Behaviour Referrals

Carla is a dedicated vet that won VetPartners’ Vet of the Year award in 2022. She qualified as a vet from The University of Liverpool in 2007. Prior to this, she completed a degree in Animal Behaviour at Chester. Carla has always had an interest in behaviour and over the last few years has become more and more aware of the many different behavioural issues that patients present with in practice. So that she can help these animals more, Carla has completed her master’s degree in Clinical Animal Behaviour from the University of Lincoln. She is a provisional member of the APBC and is looking to gain Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist status as she sees more cases.

As a vet, Carla is able to assess the medical as well as emotional aspects of your pet’s behavioural issues, as the two are often intertwined. Should medication be required, she is also able to prescribe that. In order to assess your pet’s behavioural issues, Carla will require you to complete a questionnaire about your pet’s general routine and health as well as their behaviour. Once that has been completed, she will arrange an appointment with you and your pet to examine and assess them. From this, she will create a written behavioural modification plan individual to you and your pet’s needs. Carla will arrange follow ups with you to check progress and will adapt the plan as required.

Carla is happy to see referral cases from other practices but only works under vet referral. Your vet will need to fill in the referral form found on this website and send your pet’s medical history to her in order for her to see them.


Behaviour problems may arise both directly and indirectly as a result of concurrent or previous medical problems. Veterinary involvement is therefore essential in eliminating organic causes of the problem and prioritising the diagnostic and treatment strategy to be used in any given case. In order to safeguard the welfare of your patient and indicate your approval of referral, please complete the following form.

Please note that until a case is released to another veterinary surgeon, then you, as the client’s normal veterinary surgeon, remain responsible for the treatment, advice and any prescriptions given.
