Animal Nursing Assistant Vacancy

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team as an Animal Nursing Assistant. The successful applicant will have experience of handling small animals, horses and/or farm animals and be interested in their care.


Job Description


The role of an animal nursing assistant is to assist the vet and nursing teams to ensure the smooth running of the kennels/cattery/dispensary/consulting rooms/operating theatres and large animal areas.


General Duties


These include:

  • Assisting with animal handling.
  • Assisting the vets and nurses during consultations and in surgery.
  • General kennel/cattery and stable duties including cleaning, bedding-down, exercising, grooming, and feeding.
  • Cleaning and maintaining practice equipment, as well as sterilising surgical kit.
  • Maintaining all practice areas including consulting rooms, theatre preparation area, operating theatres, and large animal areas.
  • Supporting the reception and administration teams and dealing with client enquires.

Out of Hours ‘On-call’ Duties

These include.

  • Caring for the in-patients in both the large and small animal departments.
  • Assisting the vets during emergency procedures.
  • Answering the telephone for large animal emergencies.
  • Passing clear messages to the on-call large animal vet.
  • Recording and updating client information on our practice computer system.
  • Taking payments.
     

Hours

The position is full time.

Average weekly hours of 42.75.

The shared rota comprises of different shifts including weekday nights, weekend nights, small animal theatre, small animal clinics, large animal stable assistant and late shifts.

The holiday allowance is 30 days inclusive of Bank Holidays

Requirements

  • Experience of working within a team.
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade A-C/9-4.

Equine Veterinary Surgeon Vacancies

An opportunity is available for an Equine Veterinary Surgeon to come and join our friendly team.

Our equine department consists of a team of 7 veterinary surgeons with a variety of interests who are supported by our excellent nurses and dedicated administration team. 

The role is 100% Equine

We operate out of a purpose built facility with a large treatment room, stocks, full inpatients facilities, 8 stables, trot up and lunge and all equipment to work up cases in house as well as operating theatre, and a separate AI facility with stocks/stables.

All usual diagnostics and equipment available- US, dig rad, scopes, motor dental etc.

-   1:6 weekend rota – we have a night ANA on site to take calls and assist vets OOHs
