Micro-chipping

Scanners are routinely used by rescue kennels and dog wardens throughout the country. These are standard procedure at RSPCA, SSPCA, Cats Protection and many other welfare societies. If you have numerous pets, each one will be identified separately and given its own unique identification code.

The Identichip is completely safe and causes no more discomfort than any other injection. It can be used in pets of any age, breed or species - from Great Danes to mice!

By law, as of 1st April 2016, all dogs must be micro-chipped; failure to do so can lead to prosection of the owner.

How does it work?

If your pet goes missing - All you need to do is log into your Petlog account or call their 24 hour dedicated helpline. Identichip will then send a local alert to wardens, recovery centres and veterinary surgeries in the surrounding area. You will be updated on a daily basis of any progress.

If your pet is found - A widely available scanner can detect the Identichip and read the unique code in much the same way as barcodes are read. All your details are recorded on a computer database which is available 24/7. When your details are retreived you will be contacted immediately.

Moving House?

Don't forget to update your details with the microchip organisation. We often scan strays only to discover that the owners can no longer be contacted because they have not kept their details up to date.
